so i saw this on michelle's blog && i had to steal it!! it is so true and made me laugh so hard!! if only all men really understood all of this (:
Words Women Use & What They Really Mean:
Fine - This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right you need to shut up. Never use "Fine" to describe how a woman looks- this will cause you to have one of those arguments.
Five Minutes - This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the rubbish, so it's an even trade.
Nothing - This means "something", and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a women has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine".
Go Ahead (With Raised Eyebrows) - This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine".
Go Ahead (Neutral Expression) - This means "I give up" or "do what you want because I don't care". You will get a "Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.
Loud Sigh - This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she things you are an idiot at the moment, and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing".
Soft Sigh - Again, not a word, but a non-verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" mean that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content.
That's Okay - This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and in conjunction with a "Raised Eyebrow".
Please Do - This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay".
Thanks - A woman is thanking you. Do not faint. Just say you're welcome.
Thanks A Lot - This is much different from "Thanks". A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh". Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh", and she will only tell you "Nothing".
Don't worry about it, I got it - Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "what's wrong" – for the woman's response "Nothing."
I'll drive - this either means she is questioning your manhood, or she is (rightly) scared to death of your Richard Petty impersonation.
Sure, you can buy that - Refer to "That's Okay."
Come here - You are a puppy.
You never listen - It means you never listen. Prepare for the "Loud sigh."
Whatever - Is a women's way of saying "%@&* YOU!"

"You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance." - Franklin P. Jones
Today, I came across a link of my facebook page and it just showed a little girl smiling with a short little title, but the words brain cancer stuck out, so I clicked. I am so glad that I did. Here is the article:
When 6-year-old Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer, she began hiding hundreds of little love notes around the house for her parents to find after she was gone. Here’s the story:
Just before her sixth birthday, Elena Desserich (right) was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 135 days to live. She lived 255 days, passing away in 2007. After her death, Elena’s parents, Brooke and Keith, found hundreds of notes from Elena hidden around the house — in between CD cases, between bookshelves, in dresser drawers, in backpacks….
"It just felt like a little hug from her, like she was telling us she was looking over us"
Here are some of the notes:

The website for Elena
What's sad is that if you click on the link and then scroll down, people post comments. I could not believe the types of comments people wrote. Why are people so mean? It really reminds me that there is not much good in people. Maybe the good is only in the children. But, my question is, when do you stop being thoughtful and loving and turn into a heartless disbeliever in anything?

what to do, what to do
So, today was a teacher workday for those of us in Durham County. Most workdays you go into school for a little bit and get some work done. Well, our principal decided that we were not allowed in school today. No ifs ands or buts about it. Therefore, I had a three day weekend to do whatever, whenever I wanted. Unfortunately my bank statement told me that I would be stuck at home these three days. I have never been so bored in my life. I don't know how some people do it. I guess it would be different if I was a stay at home mom because then I would be taking care of kids, but I literally am so bored. There is only so much you can clean, so much you can sleep, or so many things to watch. I've been watching movies all day. I seriously cannot wait for tomorrow to go back to school!! How weird is that??
On a good note, I stated making my Halloween costume for Saturday. Adam and I are going to be Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas (one of the movies I watched today). I just grabbed a gray dress that I have that has a tiny stain on it, that I doubt I'll wear again, as my base. I then grabbed a pink t shirt, a yellow t shirt, a maroon t shirt, a teal dress that I hate because it's see-through, and a brown yarn type dress and cut pieces off from there and just started to sew them onto the gray dress. I hope this turns out good. I guess it doesn't really matter since we are just going to be here at the house for a party Charna is throwing for Marissa's birthday, but i hope it will still look good. Adam's, unfortunately, we can't start until he gets here this weekend so we can go to the Goodwill and buy some black pants and a suit jacket. I think it's going to be fun. I will post pictures of the dress when I'm done.

Love You From Afar
Love You From Afar
The pain of leaving you is hot
It burns like the fire of Hell
And feels like it will last forever
Oh your mirror is so clear
In you, I see myself
And I have for years
Now I must go on my way
Break free from the habits of our past
And embrace a new kind of strange
Reality, that of living from my center
Instead of living with you as my center
I am so happy for this time we’ve spent
Irritating the darkness within each other
And cleansing our lenses, so our light can shine
Even brighter
I will love you always in my heart
And my soul is always there
Like a bright shining star
But my presence, my friend
Will be at a distance indeed
But I’ll still love you from afar

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. -Christopher Reeve
So I recently ordered Netflix since we don't have cable out here in Hillsborough and it has been the best $14 i spend every month. Not only can you get movies delivered to your house, but you can watch a whole lot of things instantly on your computer. All the shows and movies I have been watching have been great, but I wanted to start watching a tv show that I haven't seen before. I then came across Heroes. I've heard great things about this show, but have never watched it, even when I had cable. Well, I love it! I'm only into a few episodes of season 1, but I now know what I'll be watching for a while. (:
Anyways, watching this show has prompted me to think about all the "superhuman" powers that these people have. I got to thinking, which power would I want to have? They all seem like something you would want, but then you have to look and think about the problems each one of them has. So, I decided to go through them.
-Clarie: she can regenerate, meaning she doesn't die
-Isaac: can paint the future
-Hiro: can manipulate space and time
-Nathan: can fly
-Peter: can mimic other powers
-Matt: can hear people's thoughts
-Niki: she has extreme strength
Claire can regenerate her cells. She tries to hurt herself and she is even accidentally killed, but comes back to life. Isaac paints the future, but it's mainly bad things that are happening. Hiro can stop time and manipulate things. Nathan can fly. Peter can mimic the power of whoever is around him. Matt can hear the thoughts of those around him. Niki has powerful strength, she is able to kill 2 men with a mirror. Which one would you want? I'm not sure I'd want to be Claire, because I would never die. But then again, I could save people and not get hurt doing it. I'm not sure I'd want Isaac's powers because I'd go crazy knowing what horrible things would happen in the future. Hiro's powers might be useful, as well as Peter's. However, Peter can only use specific powers when he is around that person. If I had to choose, I might choose Hiro's powers. To be able to stop time would be somewhat helpful.

If I had a world of my own..
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
This quote is from one of my favorite books and Disney movies Alice in Wonderland. The story is just fascinating to me and I could watch it over and over again. Everyone, whether child or adult, has imagined their own world. Whether it be chasing around white rabbits or playing croquet with some flamingos and hedgehogs and the Queen of Hearts. The entire Wonderland is an amazing creation and is described perfectly. You yourself wish you were there. There is never a dull moment in the book/movie.

Since this is one of my favorites, I decided to name my blog after it. I also am in the midst of coming up with a project for my students to create using this book (I am a 4th grade teacher). This will be a great book to use in the classroom and I am sure that we could come up with some great projects. If you have any ideas, please share. I would love ideas!! (:
